WORK TRIP WALKABILITY
Jobs-Housing Balance Walkability Index:
Manhattan

DESCRIPTION

The Neighborhood Jobs-Housing Balance Index is average variance of jobs and housing (lessser divided by greater) by transportation analysis zone (or other measure used in the metropolitan area) as reported in USDOT Census Transportation Package 1990. This home-work walkability indicator expresses the maximum possible jobs-housing walkability --- the extent of the balance if the maximum possible number of jobs within the zone were filled by people living in the zone. It does not take into consideration how well local residents might match to local jobs in skills, interest or qualifications.

Perfect balance = 1.000.

Maximum imbalance = 0.000

Range = 0.000 to 1.000.

Higher score indicates greater balance (greater walkability).

Income variation is average difference between job income and resident worker income in analysis zones.

Walkability Index 0.424
Income Variation 0.282
