Core Cities: 1950-2000

23 US cities with a 1950 population of more than 200,000 had essentially the same boundaries in 2000 as in 1950 and had little or no undeveloped territory at that time. The cities are located in 19 urban areas. All lost population during the period, except for San Francisco and Oakland, which experienced a 1.4 percent population increase.
