2000 US Census: Municipalities Over 50,000: Index
Later Information: US Cities and Villages 2002 Population Estimates
This data relates to municipalities (including consolidated city-county governments) with more than 50,000 population in 2000. In some cases
municipalities were incorporated (created) from unicorporated former "census designated places" between 1990 and 2000. All of the land area in the
former census designated places was not necessarily included in the new incorporated municipality.
Communities considered census designated places (CDP) in 2000 are not included in these tables.
Note on Honolulu: The US Census Bureau does not consider any urban development in Hawaii to be an incorporated city. Honolulu is, like all other urban development in Hawaii and unincorporated communities in other states, considered to be a census designated place (CDP). At the same time, the city and county of Honolulu operates as a combined city-county government in virtually the same way as other city-county governments, such as Philadelphia (PA), San Francisco (CA), Baltimore (MD), St. Louis (MO), and Augusta, (GA). The Honolulu data is portrayed in a separate table referenced below.
